Family Planning & Public Health Services

When it comes to laboratory testing for family planning clinics and public health centers, ACM Global Laboratories understands the role that quality assurance and analysis play in disease detection. By focusing on unsurpassed service, we’re committed to providing customized reports, including custom epidemiology reports, to help you manage and treat patients more effectively by aligning our comprehensive test menu with industry guidelines. Our cytology team’s rigorous QA policies and protocols, as well as our access to advanced Pap tests for cervical cancer screening, like Hologic’s ThinPrep® Pap test, and Roche cobas® 4800 HPV test, mean we’re able to deliver highly accurate results and improve HPV testing by substantially reducing patient call-backs due to reports involving Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance (ASCUS) or insufficient quantities.

Aligned to Industry Guidelines

By aligning our test menu with the most recent guidance and algorithms issued by the American Cancer Society, American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we make it easy for clinicians to be compliant with industry guidelines.

The 2012 Updated Consensus Guidelines for the Management of Abnormal Cervical Cancer Screening Tests and Cancer Precursors recommend high-risk HPV screening in all women between the ages of 30 and 65 when a PAP smear is performed. This screening is often referred to as “co-testing.” In addition to co-testing, women with a positive HR-HPV assay may be triaged more effectively for colposcopy with the reporting of HPV 16/18 genotyping assay. Women who are positive for either HPV 16 or HPV 18 are at greater risk for progression to cervical cancer than women who are infected with other genotypes.

ACM offers the following options for cervical cancer screening:

6056 - ThinPrep® with Reflex to HPV - ThinPrep® pap with Reflex to HPV 16, HPV 18 and 12 other pooled High Risk HPV Types. This option reflexes HOV testing on ASCUS Pap.

6057 - ThinPrep® HPV Co-Test - ThinPrep® pap and HPV 16, HPV 18 and 12 other pooled High Risk HPV Types. This option meets the definition of co-testing, as defined by the ASCCP and ACOG.

6076 - High Risk HPV - HPV 16, HPV 18 and 12 other pooled High Risk HPV Types only. This option allows for primary screening for HPV without a Pap.

Every slide is then reviewed by a cytotechnologist and any potential cellular abnormality is interpreted by one of our board-certified pathologists.
